I hope this post finds you all well! Today I am chatting about this look which is mainly skin focused! As makeup artist I hear a lot that ladies don’t want to look too made up or feel like they are wearing a “mask” of makeup! I too agree, sometimes you just want to look your best and not like a different person.
When a look is skin focused ,you have to start with a clean base. So first off I deep cleansed and moistured my skin. I can’t tell you how important hydrated skin is! If you have oily / combination skin you too must moisturise just look out for moisturizers that are “oil free”! Still to this day Dermalogica’s Active Moist is a favourite of mine.
Now primer, today I used a combination of Mac Strobe Cream, think of this as a moisturiser that leaves a glowy finish on your skin, but be careful don’t use too much as you will be shining like a disco ball after a couple of hours. A little goes a long way.
For me I have open pores along my t-zone and cheek area, so I used a pea sized amount of Benefits Professional Primer, this will help blur the appearance of pores ( if you have oily skin I would just use this one not the strobe cream).
For foundation I used Mac Studio fix fluid, this has a medium buildable coverage and photograph’s lovely!! It’s important to build this foundation in light layers as if you just “whack” it on it can look too heavy on the skin. I love to use a soft kabuki brush or Beauty Blender sponge to apply.
I don’t take too much foundation around the eye area so concealer is must! One of my personal favourites is Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, it has good coverage and isn’t too drying !
Too set my concealer and T-zone I used Toofaced Born This Way Ethereal Setting Powder. This is slightly warm pale yellow in tone so I find it work’s well on me when I have false tanned. It set’s my makeup well and doesn’t create flashback.
To add that all important sunkissed bronze I used Makeup Forever Pro Fusion Bronze, I love this bronzer, it has a beautiful texture and when you buff it onto the skin it leaves a lovely glowy finish.
For highlight I cheated, I used two! Becca highlight in Champagne Pop a classic for me, it is a soft champagne gold which work’s so well on most skin tones. Also The Balm Maryloumanizer highlight layered overtop as I like how the two tones sit together. ( Fyi two highlighter’s is not necessary if you want to achieve this look I just got carried away)
For blush I mixed Mac Sunbasque and Peaches blush to give a peachy glow and show off the apple of the cheek when smiling. Blush I think is key to bringing some life and warmth to the face and I couldn’t be without it!
I finished it all with a spritz of Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray to lock the look in place. If you are dry than I would use Mac Fix Plus to soften foundation and powder or you can leave as is!
I hope you enjoy this look, and thank you for reading!
